The Department of Supply Chain Management within the Ministry of Health Development (MoHD) of Somaliland plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient procurement, distribution, and management of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals across the nation’s health facilities.

- 1. Procurement and Distribution: Overseeing the acquisition and equitable distribution of essential medicines, vaccines, and medical equipment to health facilities.
- Warehouse Management: Supervising regional medical supply warehouses to ensure proper storage conditions and inventory control.
- Logistics Management Information System (LMIS): Implementing and maintaining systems to track medical supplies, forecast needs, and prevent stockouts. Notably, the MoHD has conducted refresher workshops on reporting and ordering of maternal health medical supplies, emphasizing the importance of accurate data reporting.

- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has supported the MoHD in capacity-building efforts, particularly in improving warehouse conditions and enhancing logistics information systems. Logistimo SCM Integration: In collaboration with Health Poverty Action, the MoHD has implemented Logistimo Supply Chain Management (SCM) solutions in 27 health facilities.
