The Ministry of Health Development of Somaliland officially launched the National Polio Vaccination Campaign in Hargeisa today, with the aim of protecting children under the age of 5 who are at risk of polio.
The Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, who delivered a speech at the launch ceremony, noted the importance of this campaign for the country’s public health.
He said that vaccination is a means of protection, and it is necessary for parents to fully support the process and for children to be vaccinated.The Director particularly thanked the health workers who are implementing the campaign, saying that they are the backbone of the Ministry of Development.
He also thanked international organizations for their support to the Ministry.The polio vaccination campaign will be implemented in regions and districts across the country, with the expectation that hundreds of thousands of children will be vaccinated during the campaign.
