The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jamaac, accompanied by the Director of the Ministry’s Planning and Policy Development Department, Dr. Khalid Ali Ahmed, held an important meeting in his office today with senior representatives from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCDO).
The FCDO delegation that attended the meeting included Chris, FCDO Development Director, Nicola Murray, Head of Humanitarian Affairs, Tatiana Fernandez, Head of the British Office in Hargeisa, and Abdirisaq, a senior FCDO official.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Health Development reiterated the importance of treating Somaliland as a special case, highlighting the need for international aid and funding to flow directly to the Somaliland government to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the support provided.
The meeting concluded with an understanding and commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of health, the development of basic services, and the strengthening of the relationship between Somaliland and FCDO in the near and long term.
