The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, especially the Mental Health Department, organized a meeting today to raise awareness about mental illness and reduce discrimination.
This meeting, which was extensive and aimed at raising awareness among the community about mental illness and also reducing discrimination against people with mental illness, was attended by the Minister of Health Development Dr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, the Deputy Minister of Health Development Ms. Samsam Mohamed Saleh, the Mayor of Hargeisa District, the Director of the Mental Health Department, medical experts and health workers and some of the officials of the Ministry of Health Development.
During the meeting, the officials who attended spoke one after another, raising awareness among the Somaliland community about the problem of discrimination against our mentally ill people.
