
The Minister of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, and a delegation he led today embarked on a working trip to the eastern regions of the country, arriving in Berbera.The Minister and his delegation paid an official inspection visit to the Berbera Mental Hospital, which has been built in a modern manner and in line with international health standards.

The hospital was built and funded by the Mental Health Development Fund under the Ministry of Health Development.During his inspection, the Minister stressed the importance of the hospital for people with mental health conditions. Noting that this is a real step forward in achieving equitable health services, especially in the care and treatment of mentally ill patients.

The Minister also stated that the hospital will be officially closed soon, which will be an opportunity for the community in the region and the country as a whole to receive health services that are in line with their specific needs.The Ministry of Health Development has in recent years focused on expanding and improving the country’s health facilities, with a particular focus on mental health care.
