
The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, today organized a large and well-organized event to mark World Breastfeeding Week.

This important event was held in Hargeisa, and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health Development, Ms. Samsam Mohamed Saleh, the Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, and the Director of the Nutrition Department, as well as senior officials, distinguished guests and health professionals.

Also present at the event were Dr. Adna Adan Ismail, one of the country’s health leaders, representatives from various organizations working with the Ministry of Health Development, health workers and other distinguished guests.

During the event, important speeches were delivered to emphasize the role of breastfeeding and its importance for the development and health of children. The Deputy Minister of the Ministry, Mrs. Samsam Mohamed Saleh, urged mothers to breastfeed their children, saying that there is no other milk that can equal or replace mother’s milk.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development, who delivered various speeches at the event, spoke about the health benefits of breastfeeding for children, such as its health, nutrition, and immune system. The director urged parents to breastfeed their children.
