The quarterly review meeting on Reproductive and Maternal Health (SRMH) and Medicine Management and Supply Chain (PSM) was held in Hargeisa, organized by the Ministry of Health Development, in collaboration with UNFPA.This important meeting was attended by various stakeholders working in Reproductive and Maternal Health (SRMH) and Medicine Management and Supply Chain (PSM).
It included officials from the departments of the Ministry of Health Development, heads of departments, regional coordinators, heads of SRMH and PSM units in the regions, and partner agencies of the Ministry such as UNFPA, WHO, Save the Children, Alight, GHP, PSI, SoFHA, and WAAPO, as well as some private hospitals.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen Reproductive and Maternal Health (SRMH) and Medicines Management and Supply Chain (PSM) services, and to review the performance of the three months of 2026.The meeting was opened by brief remarks from the Director of the Department of Public Health and the Director of the Medicines Management Department, and the Head of the UNFPA Somaliland Office also spoke.
The officials stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration, improving health services, and improving health information systems.During the meeting, the performance of the first three months of 2026 was presented in detail, with a focus on the increase in SRMH services such as ANC visits, births in health facilities, family planning services, and postnatal care (PNC). Also, the level of availability and stock of essential medicines, the use of supply management systems, and challenges related to reaching health services in remote areas were analyzed.
The meeting highlighted significant achievements in improving services, although there are still challenges that require joint solutions.Finally, the heads of both departments thanked the participants for their good cooperation and commitment to improving health services, promising to work together to implement the agreed points to achieve effective results in the first three months of 2026
