The Director of the Department

The Department of Regional Health Coordination, also known as the Regional Secretariat, is a vital division within the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development (MoHD). This department plays a central role in managing and supporting health services across Somaliland’s regions, ensuring that national health policies are effectively implemented at the regional level.

Key Responsibilities

Permanent Coordination: Overseeing the continuous coordination of work among regional health offices.

Work Determination: Defining and guiding the activities of regional offices.

Reporting: Receiving and reviewing monthly and program reports from regional offices.

Financial Oversight: Performing regular financial reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.

Emergency Management: Managing and coordinating health emergencies within the regions.

Clinical Supervision: Coordinating clinical supervision at Regional Health Offices (RHOs) in collaboration with relevant departments.

Primary Health Care Monitoring: Monitoring the supervision of primary health care activities at RHOs alongside the appropriate departments.

Strategic Role

The Regional Secretariat serves as a bridge between the central Ministry and regional health offices, ensuring that health services are delivered effectively and uniformly across Somaliland.

By facilitating communication, standardizing procedures, and overseeing the implementation of health programs, the department enhances the overall efficiency and responsiveness of the health system.
