The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland has officially joined the International Network for the Control of Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries in Poverty (NCDI Poverty Network), a large network of more than 27 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, which have agreed to work together to control the devastating impact of chronic diseases and injuries on people in developing countries, especially the poorest.

Somaliland’s membership in this important network marks a significant step forward in strengthening the ministry’s efforts to improve health services, particularly in addressing noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, cardiovascular and mental health conditions, as well as poverty-related injuries.

The event to announce the new partnership was held at the Maansoor Hotel in Hargeisa, and was attended by senior officials from the ministry, international organizations and the health community.
