
Hargeisa, Somaliland: The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, officially opened the Somaliland Health Workforce Analysis Results Validation Meeting (HRH 2025), which was held in Hargeisa.

The important meeting focused on presenting, analyzing and validating the findings of the study on the Status of the Health Workforce in Somaliland, as part of efforts to improve the health workforce system in the country.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health Development, international organizations working on health development, health professional associations, and representatives from the regions of the country.

During the meeting, the Director General Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama spoke about the importance of this analysis for planning and capacity building of the health workforce. He noted that this study presented important information that shows the needs, opportunities and challenges in the health workforce system, which will help in developing effective policies and strategies to improve health services in the country.

The Director General pointed out that health workers are the backbone of the health system, and it is necessary to have an integrated plan to improve their training, rights and work motivation system, to ensure consistent, quality health services, and to reach the Somaliland community wherever they are.

The Director General also thanked all partners and stakeholders who participated in the preparation and support of this study, noting that collaboration is the key to success in achieving sustainable health development.

Finally, it was concluded that the findings and recommendations from this study will be used as a formal guide to establish the Somaliland Health Workforce Development Plan for the coming years.
