
The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland in collaboration with the University of Burco and the Ministry’s partner institutions organized the National Policy Development Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

The meeting brought together stakeholders from government agencies, international organizations, universities and local institutions, who jointly participated in the analysis of the foundation and development of a national policy for combating non-communicable diseases.

The objective of the meeting was to build a common understanding on the importance of developing a National Policy on NCDs, which promotes clear direction, a unified plan, and accountability for public health development, to address the diseases that are increasingly affecting society.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education and Science, and the Director General of the Ministry of Health Development, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, who specifically noted the importance of establishing a national policy on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), as they are a health challenge that requires a unified national plan.
