The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), today officially laid the foundation stone for the New Taiwan Medical Center and Modernization of Hargeisa Hospital.
This large-scale project is funded by our friendly government of Taiwan, and will play a significant role in the development of health services in the country.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which was well-organized, demonstrated the deep friendship and cooperation between the two Republics of Somaliland and Taiwan.
The two countries consistently work together to improve health, education, technology, and the skills of government and military personnel.President Cirro delivered a meaningful speech expressing his gratitude and sense of cooperation.
He commended the Government and People of Taiwan for their support for the people of Somaliland, especially for development projects that are transforming the lives of the people.The President noted that Taiwan is a “true and reliable friend,” and that the project demonstrates the close relationship between the two countries.
The President indicated that the new building of the Taiwan Medical Center will be a symbol of friendship between the two countries, praising Taiwan for its commitment to improving health services and other services that serve the community.
The new building and modernization of the Hargeisa General Hospital will be a center that provides high-quality health services, which will significantly reduce the country’s health needs, and will also improve the level of health services in the community.Meanwhile, the Minister, Deputy Minister, and Director General of the Ministry of Health Development expressed their special gratitude to the Taiwanese government for its support and funding for this health project, describing it as an important step in improving health services in the country.
Also, speeches were made on the occasion by Ministers, the 1st Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Mayor of Hargeisa, the Governor of Maroodijeex Region, Dr. Edna Adan, and the Director of the Hargeisa General Hospital, all of whom expressed their deep gratitude to the Government and People of Taiwan for their continued support to Somaliland.
For his part, the Taiwanese Ambassador to Somaliland, Mr. Allen Lou, said that his country is ready to further strengthen its support to Somaliland, especially in the areas of Health, Education, Technology, and National Security Skills Development.
