The Director General of the Ministry of Health and Development of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mohamoud Jama, paid an official visit and conducted a working inspection of the Edna Adan University Hospital in Hargeisa. He was warmly welcomed by the founder, Dr. Edna Adan Ismail, as well as senior leadership and staff from both the hospital and the university.
During the visit, the Director General inspected various departments of the hospital, specifically focusing on maternal and child health services, the surgical unit, and the facilities dedicated to medical education and training.
Additionally, the Director General observed a training session on emergency maternal and child care, attended by midwives and doctors from various regions of the country. He officially concluded the training by presenting certificates to the participants who completed the course and awarding certificates of appreciation to the doctors who conducted the training. In conclusion, the Director General offered words of counsel, blessings, and encouragement to the participants, urging them to utilize the knowledge and skills they have acquired to serve the community—specifically by contributing to saving the lives of mothers and infants.
This visit underscores the importance of strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Health Development of Somaliland, health facilities, and health education institutions in order to enhance the quality of health services, improve the skills of health workers, and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
