The regional health coordinator of the Ministry of Health Development Mr. Mohamoud Khalif opened a training for the mental health care providers of the region.
The trainees who came from the mental health centers of Sool were trained on MhGap interventions —-a guide for mental, neurological and substance use disorders in specialty setting. This WHO-developed guide which has been used by more than 90 countries is for use by doctors, nurses and other health care providers.
The objective of this very comprehensive TOT 6-day training was aimed at helping non-specialists conduct standardized clinical interviews and examinations and further more help health care providers remain patient-centered and protect the rights of the patient.
