The Minister of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, today appeared before the Social Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland, participating in an information and accountability meeting regarding the general situation of health services in the country.
The meeting, chaired by the Chairperson of the Social Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland, Ms. Amina Cilmi Farid, focused on the state of health services in the country, the status of health facilities and plans to improve the services that the Ministry has for the community.During the meeting, the Minister and the Director General provided the committee with a comprehensive report on the situation of the country’s hospitals, maternal and child health centers (MCHs), primary health centers and overall health services provided in the regions, districts and villages of the country.
The committee members also briefed the Ministry officials on the status of health workers, access to health services, challenges and the Ministry’s efforts to improve the quality and scope of health services.The Minister of Health Development, Mr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, and the Director General, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, adequately responded to the questions and inquiries raised by the committee members, sharing information and reports related to the Ministry’s activities, achievements, challenges and future plans to strengthen health services in the country.
The meeting ended with a consensus and fruitful exchange of views, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between government agencies and the role of accountability in developing health services and enhancing the welfare of the Somaliland community.
