MOHD Launches Another Phase of Finnsom V Project

The Ministry of Health Development had Launched another phase of the Finnsom V Project which is to institutionalize health sector development through temporary return of diaspora health professionals. This project is funded by Finland.

The Director General of MOHD, Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye who delivered a key word during the event had explained the project and narrated its background. The DG stated that the project is in it’s fifth phase and the objective was to improve the health service of the country particularly the reproductive health. Furthermore, the DG also stated that the aim of the project was to return diaspora health professionals from Finland and the Scandinavian to Somaliland in order to make use of their skills and medical expertize to Somaliland.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Health Development thanked the government of Findland for their support on Somaliland health sector—a support that started in 2008, as stated by the minister. The minister added that this project continued for 15 years and during that period delivered diaspora medical professionals to Somaliland in order to give a helping hand to the medical needs existing in Somaliland.

The minster specifically thanked the Minister of National Planning of which he described it “Technical Ministry” and if it didn’t exist nothing will go right, according to the Minister.

During the launching event, the Minister of  National Planning and the Minister of Employment and Social Affairs attend.
