The Minister of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, has cut the cord on the new building of the Mother and Child Department at the Borama General Hospital, which was funded by the Amoud Foundation.The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture JSL, Mr. Adan Gedi Qayad, the Minister of Ministry of Communications JSL, Mr. Abdisalan Hussein Awale, the Director of Hargeisa General Hospital, the Governor of Awdal Region, officials at the regional and district levels, the Health Coordinator of Awdal Region, the Director of Borama General Hospital and officials from the Amud Foundation.
The Minister of Health Development, Mr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, noted the importance of the development of maternal and child health services, noting that this building reflects efforts to strengthen the quality and scope of health services provided at Borama General Hospital.The minister pointed out that the availability of suitable medical facilities for mothers and babies plays an important role in the development of health services, highlighting the importance of strengthening efforts to develop health infrastructure and improve the services that Somaliland communities receive from health centers.He also praised the role played by the health community in the development of health services, noting the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Health Development and organizations that support the development of health infrastructure.
The new construction of the Maternal and Child Unit is part of the efforts to improve maternal and child health services, and to improve the services offered at Borama General Hospital, to strengthen the facility’s ability to provide quality medical services.
