
The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, officially opened a program in the town of Ceel-Afayn to provide free health services to mothers and children.

The program, which was jointly launched by the Ministry of Health Development and UNFPA, was attended by the Sanaag Regional Health Coordinator, the Director of Ceel-Afayn General Hospital and other health sector officials.Director General Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama noted that maternal and child health services play a major role in community development, as maternal health is the basis for the health of the family and the community as a whole.

The Director General also handed over medical supplies and medicines to Ceel-Afayn General Hospital, which are intended to strengthen and improve the health services at Ceel-Afayn Hospital, in order to improve the quality of health services to the community.

This new project is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve basic health services, and provide the community with quality health care to ensure maternal and child health.
