The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, accompanied by the Minister of Health Development, Dr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art CT Scan machine, which will now be fully operational at the Boorama General Hospital.
The well-organized event, which took place at the Boorama General Hospital, was a grand affair, highlighting the significant progress the Ministry of Health Development is making in expanding and modernizing health services in the country. It was attended by senior officials from the national and regional levels, including members of the Council of Ministers, the Governor of Awdal Region, the Regional Health Coordinator, the Directors of major hospitals in Boorama and Hargeisa, medical experts and other distinguished guests.
The officials who spoke at the event explained in detail the importance of the CT Scan machine, pointing out that it is a modern medical device that plays a major role in diagnosing many diseases that require in-depth imaging, such as internal injuries, brain diseases, bones and internal organs of the body. They also noted that the implementation of this new service will significantly reduce the burden and costs incurred by patients who used to travel to other cities or abroad to receive similar services.
Meanwhile, the officials underlined that this step is part of the Ministry’s plans to strengthen the country’s health infrastructure, and achieve quality health services that reach the entire community, especially in the regions of the country. It was also pointed out that this machine will increase the capacity and performance of the Boorama General Hospital, making it a health center that can respond to the needs of the community in Awdal region and its surroundings.
