Third Batch MhGap Training Concluded for Burao Primary Health Care Providers

The Mental Care Department of the Ministry of Health Development has conlcuded the third batch MhGAP training for the primary health professionals of Burao.

The six-day workshop was given to 15 health professionals who are involved in the maternal and child care services.

Nonetheless, the trainees were trained on MhGap interventions guide for mental, neurological and substance use disorders in specialty setting. This WHO-developed guide which has been used by more than 90 countries is for use by doctors, nurses and other health care providers.

The objective of this very comprehensive TOT training was aimed at helping non-specialists conduct standardized clinical interviews and examinations and further more help health care providers remain patient-centered and protect the rights of the patient.
