National Consultation Meetings with the Stakeholders of New National Health Law Carried Out in The Western Regions

Borama, Awdal– A high-level delegation from the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development and the Social Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives today paid a working visit to Borama town in Awdal region.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Health Development, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry and members of the Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament, was on a national consultation on the new health law.Upon arrival in Borama town, the delegation was warmly welcomed by regional authorities.

Thereafter, consultation meetings were officially launched with all health stakeholders in the Awdal region. The meetings focused on accelerating the drafting and approval of the national health law, which is currently being conducted by the Ministry of Health Development and the Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament.The delegation also visited Amuud University, where they held an important meeting with various sectors of society, especially academics, health experts, and health students.

There was extensive discussion about important elements that could be included in the national health code, taking into account the country’s specific needs, expert advice, and the experiences of local people.
