The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, held a joint Iftar meeting with Somaliland doctors studying in the country’s higher education institutions in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The meeting was an information and familiarization meeting, and focused on the educational status of doctors and the role they can play in the future in developing health services in the country.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Somaliland Doctors Association in Ethiopia for Higher Education, Dr. Nuradiin Sheikh Abubakar, briefed the Director General on the general information of the doctors, their level of education, and the various specialties they are studying.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, for his part, gave important advice and recommendations to the doctors, urging them to redouble their educational efforts, and to bring the knowledge and experience they gain back to their country to contribute to the development of the health system in Somaliland.
The doctors also asked the Director General questions related to various issues regarding their education and health development plans, to which the Director General answered adequately.
Finally, the Director General officially closed the meeting, thanking the doctors for their efforts in improving their knowledge and their commitment to serve their country and society in the future.
