
The Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, specifically the Department of Child Health and Immunization, in collaboration with UNICEF, organized a two-day training on “Immunization in Practice (IIP)” – Training of Vaccinators and Health Workers in Immunization Services.The training was officially opened by the Deputy Director of the Department of Child Health and Immunization, Dr. Abdishakur Ahmed Mohamed, and the Maroodijeex Regional Health Coordinator, Dr. Mahad Abdi Yasin.

The training was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland and UNICEF. The training is supported by the Korean Immunization Project, which UNICEF supports in Somaliland, while the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland is responsible for the implementation and coordination of the program.The training was attended by 28 health workers, who work in the delivery of immunization services in 14 health facilities supported by the Korean Immunization Project.

The objective of this training was to strengthen the knowledge and skills of health workers providing vaccination services, particularly on proper vaccination procedures, vaccine safety, management of vaccination services, and improvement of vaccination services in health facilities.This training is part of the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Health Development, Somaliland to strengthen the quality of vaccination services, ensuring that children in Somaliland receive safe, quality vaccination services that comply with recognized health standards.
