The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, officially concluded the Training of Trainers (ToT) on Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and Epidemics, which was jointly organized by the Emergency Department and the Department of Health Services and Hospitals of the Ministry of Health Development of Somaliland, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The four-day training was part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen preparedness, prevention and response to Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and Epidemics.The training focused on enhancing the knowledge and skills of health professionals, particularly in Disease Surveillance, Early Detection and Identification of Cases, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Case Management, and strengthening the capacity for rapid response during outbreaks.
The training was attended by 40 health professionals selected from Maroodi-Jeex and Sahil Regions, including members of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs), Points of Entry (PoE) staff, Hospital Directors and members of Hospital Boards.The training was technically supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), with the participation of external experts and facilitators.
The training will further strengthen the knowledge and capacity of health workers in preparing for and responding to Ebola and other infectious diseases.In conclusion, the Director General of the Ministry of Health Development, JSL, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, officially closed the training, commending the participants for their efforts and commitment to strengthening preparedness and rapid response to infectious diseases.
The Director General also presented certificates to the trained health workers, as part of the closing ceremony of the training.
